Advisory Boards

Today was our first Advisory board meeting. We have four men on it - and two came. However, I understand the other two are very active - just couldn't make it today. Both the men there were encouraging - and wanted to be involved in something that makes a difference.

We were fortunate enough to have two guests from our headquarters there - fundraisers for us who already knew the Advisory Board members and fit right in.

We talked about the plans for the future, how we felt the Army should be standing at the threshold of the world with and the world without, and they responded with - "we want to be part of that!"

So, in figuring out how to use Advisory Boards effectively, first we will educate them (and ourselves) on the local Army programs - sending them victory blurbs with statements and testimonies. Ryan (one of the guys from DHQ) challenged them to make The Salvation Army one of the three things that they talk about all the time - one, being their work perhaps, two being their family, and three being The Salvation Army. They really liked that idea!

They are eager to add people on board - we just have to find the right people. Because we have nothing else to do . . .LOL

It was a good meeting.
