Fun theme park - actually has a sad theme . . .

I went to a water park with my kids yesterday - had a great time. I loved the wave machine and some of the extreme rides but I hated the lines . . LOL. . .thank goodness I had Bethany to stand in line with.

I think though, that our family will pick up extreme sports that require clothes. There was just too much immodesty for me to deal with - I am sad in my spirit that we teach girls (and guys) to become so comfortable with their bodies that there is very little separating their skin from a guys imagination.

I know it was supposedly harmless fun in the sun and that most people's minds were on the rides and the water but my spirit is still troubled . . .there are three young girls (all under 12) at our corps that have already been molested by men and teenage boys and I don't see how we can say that we aren't contributing to the problem when we encourage such immodesty at all times. I heard a guy actually say that "this was better than a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition!"

As a pastor, Don says that he counsels 2 out of 3 men who have problems with pornography. Well, yesterday would have been a playground for these men.

I think that in view of the fact that we are supposed to be examples for these men (and their families) that Don has to work with, sledding, snow skiing, snowboarding, hiking, even LAKE swimming will be our choices for corps programming and family sports.

I really tried to stress modesty at our last corps and it was very difficult when the accepted shirt for young ladies is spaghetti straps with bra straps as part of the decor. I was glad to hear that the officers who followed us shared the same concern when people told me that they weren't supposed to wear tank tops to church any more. Good for them!

Such a sticky subject . . .nobody wants to touch it . . "you are just taking things to the extreme" . . well, for someone who loves extreme sports and extreme thrills, I guess it's true to course.
