. . . for Jessica.
Jessica - she's always been a believer. Since she was little girl. She knew God existed and she knew he was there and she knew he loved her. She just didn't know how to make him part of her life -
how to tap into the wisdom He had for life - the power He had for miracles - the love He had for her.
Sunday morning, we "crashed" the church service at Music Camp. Since half of our congregation was at camp already as staffers or campers, we took the rest to church in the mountains. We had ulterior motives, actually. We wanted those new people who had claimed us a church home to see another side of us - and they did. Great Army band music - great testimony - lots of uniforms (not just me and Don).
Major Colleen Riley gave a great sermon about being who you were called to be - and at the end of it, Jessica (along with many others) went forward. On her knees, she prayed the simple prayer of salvation! She had heard about it from Captain Don every Sunday, seen it exampled in the people at the corps, believed it from a child, but now it was hers for the taking. And she took it!
It was worth it all - even being called out for "crashing" the party! My profuse apologies to everyone for showing up un-invited . . . but the atmosphere was right for Jessica. What started as a child, sprouted at our Booth Family Center, was watered at the corps, loved and nurtured by church members, and came to fruition at a Music Camp church service.
That's what it's all about.
