HMIS Meeting

I am learning a whole new glossary of words - trying to wade through the murkey waters of HCD grants, HPRP funding, HMIS statistics (which by the way means Homeless Management Information System - or keeping track of the homeless).

While the end result is fulfilling, the middle work is incredibly boring and stodgy. People have developed these systems and guidelines and a whole new language to deal with this stuff. Honestly, if they need something to do, I've got lots of things that need doing . . .

The best part about today's meeting about HMIS/HPRP was meeting the people who represent the different agencies. I've noticed that most of them are women . . .that is interesting. And they are busy.

I got to meet the director of Hospitality House today - I was so surprised to find out she was very similar to me. I like her! I'm looking forward to working together.

I wonder if her head swims when she starts getting into the grants and stuff. I hope I'm not the only one.
